Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah SWT, we are fortunate to come together once again for ICVSSD 2024. This event marks a significant milestone in re-establishing the exchange of knowledge and fostering collaboration among researchers. The theme, "Vibration benefiting mankind," is both timely and relevant, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in today’s world.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our distinguished keynote speakers, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Asan G.A. Muthalif from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Qatar University, and Professor Dr. Zaidi Mohd Ripin from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Your expertise and contributions to this conference will undoubtedly inspire all of us. The depth and quality of your research will provide invaluable insights for everyone here, especially those actively involved in this field.

To all the presenters, I wish you the best in showcasing your work. And to our research students, seize this opportunity to engage, ask thought-provoking questions, and build connections. Learning from the experiences and research of others will offer you great benefits as you move forward in your own academic journeys.

I’m also delighted to highlight the Workshop on Research for Product, Patents, and Publication (R3P) being held as part of this conference. This workshop encourages researchers to move beyond traditional publication goals, incorporating market analysis and product development into their research strategies. By doing so, participants will gain insights into how their work can not only advance scientific knowledge but also create tangible economic value for society and industry. About the Lead Trainer

Prof Zaidi Mohd Ripin

He has been with USM since 1996 and previously worked at Proton R&D and Malaysia Sheet Glass. Over the course of his research, he has developed numerous solutions, notably the universal suspended handle for grass trimmers, along with other innovations related to healthcare, industrial applications, and agriculture. He has secured grants directly and indirectly from industries such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Panasonic, and through CREST collaborative research with Motorola, National Instruments, Dyson, Freedom Medical International, and SAS. He actively supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through product development and research assistance. In product development, he received a RM 1.5 million grant from MIDA for the development of a Parkinson’s disease tremor monitoring system. To date, the total amount of grants obtained from industry and industry-related work amounts to RM 6 million. He has supervised 20 PhD and 21 MSc students.

Dr Mohamad Ezral Baharudin

Graduated with a PhD from Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland, specializing in Multibody Systems Dynamics, he is an expert in real-time simulation, robotics, dynamics modeling, and automation. His commitment to innovation is demonstrated by his extensive research, numerous publications, and active participation in prestigious conferences and collaborations at both national and international levels. Dr. Ezral and his team have developed the DyCoS Lightboard, an innovative educational tool designed to enhance interactive teaching and learning experiences.

 

Dr Muhammad Fauzinizam Razali

Graduated with a PhD from USM, specializing in Biomechanics and Shape Memory Alloy, Dr. Fauzi is actively engaged in research focused on stroke rehabilitation and dental biomechanics. He has developed practical skills through industry collaboration, supported by numerous publications and presentations at prestigious conferences and seminars. Dr. Fauzi is also the recipient of a RM 1.5 million CREST grant in collaboration with SAS Institute, through which he developed a rehabilitation device for post-stroke patients.

 

Dr Mohamad Ikhwan Zaini Ridzwan

Graduated from USM and holding a PhD in Biomechanics from Imperial College London, he is actively engaged in research on ergonomics and ergonomics interventions. He is the recipient of a RM 1.428 million CREST grant in collaboration with Freedom Medical International, through which he developed a patient lifter for use in old folks' homes. He is currently working on several additional products for the palm oil industry.

 

Dr Nur Shuhaidatul Sarmiza Abdul Halim

Graduated with a PhD from USM in Biology, specializing in stem cells, she is now conducting research in biomechanics and has postdoctoral research experience. She has authored numerous systematic review papers and is considered an expert in this area.
